All I reall have to say is. "this," (referring to the Tweet above) and most of you understand what this means. For those that don't understand, here are a few quick bulletpoints:
- Banks will not be playing for the Irish in 2010
- This is most likely an academic issue going back into spring and/or summer classes.
- This thins the depth chart down to 4 corners.
- It has been suggested by "those in the know" that Lo Wood had already passed Banks on the depth chart.
- The secondary is collectively thin.
- Brian Kelly has already stated that he is considering moving a few players around to help.
- In my opinion, look for Slaughter to see some reps at CB and a stronger push by Motta at safety.
- Since Banks is still enrolled, it is very likely that he would return to the team in the Spring after his affairs are put in order.
- This should have no effect on recruiting numbers for 2011 if Banks returns.
That's the quick and nimble version of it all. I'm sure there is more juice to the story, but I will leave it at that, and offer these last few nuggets.
- Banks is the third defensive back to leave the team since the spring.
- Boyd: Transfer.
- Badger: Stormin' Mormon Mission.
- Banks: Academics?
- All 3 players have last names that start with the letter "B."
- All 3 players would have had 4 years of eligibility left- starting in the fall.
