ian williamsThere is a scene in the movie, "The Matrix" that has my mind swimming with thought. It's when that European dudechick with the short blonde hair is crying that hisher husband/samurai-lover died when the plug got pulled out of him. He She looks up and says, "Not like this. Not like this." And then he she falls dead when the plug gets yanked out of his her ass.

It is a big movie-metaphor for how I have been feeling for the past 22 months. I'm sick and tired of the way Notre Dame is either losing or winning their football games. Not like this indeed...

9 out of the last 10 losses for the Irish have been by a combined 36 points, for an average of 4 points per loss since Syracuse in 2008. That 10th game, was the U$C game in 2008 when the Irish lost 38-3, which is the same point differential as the other 9 combined. (And you thought the movie"23" was freaky).

It's maddening (used with my best Dumbledore voice). You can actually look at the 2009 season and pick out one play for each loss, turn that fucker around and write down a "W" when you do it. That would have out this irrelevant, slow, uninspired team at 12-0 and playing Alabama for the national title. It sounds absurd, but it really could have been that way. Of course, Notre Dame could have just as easily gone 2-10 that year too.

Do you see how frustrating this is? Of course you do, if you are an Irish fan- and if your not... I know I am mind-bombing your ass.

I usually don't post much after I get the Anti-Preview posted on the site, because I usually have said all that needs to be said, and more so in some cases. However, I just needed to vent a little of this frustration to all of you at 2 AM on gameday. I can basically bet the house that ND will be in yet another nail-biting game against Satanford. And yes, if the Irish win, I will be a very happy S.O.B. (I will bathe in the tears of Harbaugh).

I don't have much more to say, other than I will continue to follow, blog, and perform ritualistic sacrifices in the name of the Fighting Irish. Once they get over this bullshit hump that they have been climbing for over 15 years, perhaps I will be able to look back and laugh, but until that glorious time comes, all I can think is: Not again. Not one more play. Not Like this.
