OK. So an update is probably around a week overdue, but what in the hell can you do about it; take away my scholarship? That's what I thought. At any rate, Notre Dame received its seventh verbal commitment for the incoming class of 2012 when Mark Harrell said he was 100% Irish. Of course, that statement is absurd. The name "Harrell" has Irish roots- but it also has French origins as well. So, if he would have just said he was, "100% Notre Dame Fighting Irish," than I would sleep a little easier at night.
Than again, it had me wondering about what else Harrell was hiding... and then it hit me... it was right in plain sight...
6'5" 270 lbs.
Mark Harrell had planned on taking his time throughout the recruiting process. The goal, at the time, was to visit the schools he liked and then make a well informed decision. All that changed in the blink of an eye.
Harrell admits to doing his GERMAN homework for school, when he had an overwhelming urge to commit to Notre Dame- despite his previous plan.
GERMAN... Oh my dear sweet lord... HE EVEN LOOKS LIKE MARTIN LUTHER!!!
Luther also had a "come to church" moment to start his career as a church pain-in-the-ass. That may have been in a thunderstorm, and not while doing homework, but for many people it is very similar.
Look at how Harrell wears his "CATHOLIC" uniform proudly. Luther was once a proud Catholic as well. But my, oh my, how things changed very rapidly. Luther became disenfranchised by the church structure and of the power of the Papacy.
Could Harrell be on the same rebellious path? I'm not saying that he is; all that I'm saying is don't be surprised when he leaves Dillon Hall one night and nails 95 statements to the Basilica doors.
Welcome to ND, Mark!!!
