Notre Dame cornerback, Lo Wood was mentioned by Brian Kelly to be one of the best performers coming out of fall camp. Wood was the presumptive starter at CB and one of only two current cornerbacks with any game experience.
Now there most likely is only one returning cornerback with any game experience:
Presumptive starting corner Lo Wood suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on Monday with surgery expected later this week, per a source.— Irish Illustrated (@NDatRivals) August 21, 2012
Notre Dame will now have to find the answer to this HUGE loss. Could Slaughter be moved from safety to cornerback? Will Jalen Brown show enough skill to make a difference? Will somebody just stay healthy? We will be haring more on this tomorrow, I'm sure.
Roberson, Collingsworth, Councell and now Wood, not just any old injury, but career and season ending injuries. Fuck, are we not the most snake bit team in the country, seriously has anyone had it worse with injuries? Aside from that I feel sorry for the kids, hopefully Collingsworth and Wood come come bake stronger.
@tjak I know it seems like ND has it worse, but that's not the case. There are plenty of teams getting hit. Oklahoma and their lineman, and USC and their linebackers come to mind.
However- this does suck royal ass.
Yea, I don't see it either. He's just way too dangerous on offense. I'd hate to see him plug a hole for a year just to get kicked back to O Next year.
I would prefer this didn't happen, but we don't know much about Wood. He made a nice play vs MD, but he also got toasted vs USC at the worst time. Russell, Brown, or Atkinson will fill in, and we wont miss a beat.
(Only I didn’t say ‘Fudge’. I said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the ‘F-dash-dash-dash’ word!)
