I might have a post on this but it would go something like this, this was total domination at every position on the field. It was just a loss to be better, faster, stronger team. It wasn't the layoff. It wasn't lack of preparation, they were prepared and knew what was coming. It wasn't even "missed tackles" as if that was something the D did (though I thought the edge didn't get set quite a bit and there were some poor angles) and not as if they were trying to bring down inhuman running backs, and guys were just bouncing off Lacy. Plays that any other back this team faced that would have gone for negative yardage were going for positive yards because Lacy was a steam roller.
You could see it on offense-- when a team is clearly outmatched they have to struggle for every yard which ND did. You have to give everything you have just to get five yards.
I'm still proud of this team, but Alabama is the champ. Nothing the team could have done as far as prep would have changed the outcome. If ND played their best game possible with know mistakes AND they got a few key calls to go their way AND Alabama could have made a few mistakes AND if the refs would have called a few more holds, then it could have been closer but Bama still probably would have won.
Um ... I said "Eifert with legendary first half after Golson spent all month better recognizing him one-on-one" in the old prediction. Love it.
I don't know how often I'll be able to stop by during the game so I better get some posts in now. I'm gonna be a basket-case by then.
