Rivals Team Recruiting Ranking Doesn't Make Much Sense

Written by The Subway Domer on .

Notre Dame is currently ranked #2 in Rivals Team Recruiting Rankings. Something about this looks strange- like too little or too much math is involved. What the hell?

Yeah it's weird.

I think they only rank based on the highest 20 recruits.  Then they base those point totals over on the right on how highly within the star rating that particular player merits.  So, for instance, a Hunter Bivin, who is a four star but one of Rivals' top 250 recruits, would give you less points than a, say, Max Redfield, who is close to a five star.

It still looks weird and imo is a dumb way to do it, but I guess they're trying to make up for teams like TAMU who bring in 71 man classes.

Well here's something from their website

I was sort of right.

Rivals Rating points + Rivals250 Bonus Points = Total Points

 Rivals Rating (RR) Scale (Top 20 rated commitments)

(Rivals Rating = Points)

6.1 = 150 points

6.0 = 135 points

5.9 = 120 points

5.8 = 105 points

5.7 = 90 points

5.6 = 75 points

5.5 = 60 points

5.4 = 45 points

5.3 = 30 points

5.2 = 15 points

Rivals 250 Bonus Scale (all commitments) #1= 100 points #2= 83 points #3= 82 points
