Subway Domer’s Recruiting Notebook: Corey Holmes Is Irish

Corey Holmes, a 4 star WR from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida verbally commits to Notre Dame for the incoming class of 2014.

This "ends" a recruitment that looked like it was going to be Notre Dame for a long time. The only other contender was UCLA after Holmes narrowed his choices down to the Bruins and Notre Dame after spurning offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and on and on.

This gives the Irish 15 commits for the class of 2014 thus far, and makes Holmes the 5th offensive skill player to commit in this class to add to Hood, Kizer, Brent and Weishar.

Notre Dame is looking to load up a little bit at WR after recruiting failures and transfers over the past few years. Holmes was one of the top guys on Notre Dame's board and pairs up great with a guy like Justin Brent. Other names at WR that the Irish are really gunning for are Allen Lazard, Malachi Dupre, Isaiah McKenzie, and Cameron Sims among others.

Holmes is a very good and technical wide receiver, but won't blow you away with crazy athleticism. The comparisons to TJ Jones are fairly accurate in my mind and should be looked at as a positive.

The list is filling up early, but expect the Irish to take 24-25 guys in this cycle.

DAMSHA BUA COREY HOLMES!!!
