Despite what you may have heard, today wasn't just the unveiling of the Shamrock Series uniforms. It was Notre Dame's Media Day- the real one you guys.

I too got caught up in the hype and the awesome madness of the uniform unveiling, but there is some serious shit going on, and I have some serious thoughts. I'm going to share them with you- I promise, but that will be for this weekend. Letting it marinate man. Letting it marinate.

After months of anticipation and days of teases, Notre Dame finally released images of the Shamrock Series uniforms that they will be wearing against Miami in Chicago. 

Well, what do you think? You probably already know that I love 'em, but I really want to hear it from y'all. At the very least, I'm betting that NDNation.com implodes in spectacular fashion.

Kevin McDougal joined 1993 Notre Dame Football teammate Oscar McBride's show recently and this is the 2nd part of the interview to be transcribed. Part I focused on the back story and locker room during McDougal's Fall Camp competition with Freshman QB Ron Powlus. This piece centers on the #1 vs #2 game against Florida State & McDougal's inside story on the Boston College comeback that should have put the Irish in the National Championship.

Why the Reebok pumps? McDougal claims he realized FSU was a "big game" when Reebok came by with the newly released shoes for the Irish players. Were there "fond" memories of Boston College? Absolutely according to McDougal and McBride. In his own words, McDougal describes how the 4th quarter of the BC game was the first time in his career that he felt like he was doing what he "had come to Notre Dame to do on the field." Enjoy.

Tomorrow, Notre Dame will finally unveil the Shamrock Series uniforms for the Miami game in Chicago. Here are all 5 of the teases sneak peaks swatches that they have released. You can take some guesses if you want, but I'm pretty sure they are blue.

So while the NCAA is continuing to deal with the nightmare that is Penn State, it now finds itself  facing what just might be the largest scheme of academic fraud in history at the University of North Carolina. The scale of the alleged fraud is simply mind-boggling. Two department chairs and other assorted academic advisors purportedly placed dozens of athletes in bogus classes with no work. All you had to do is just register and you got an A and some credit. Wow. If anything is worthy of “death-penalty” type sanctions this would be it. It goes to the heart of preserving academic integrity while meeting the textbook definition of “lack of institutional control.”

Now, I don’t normally write about other programs’ woes, because schadenfreude is not a feeling one should enjoy. But the level of cynicism this story has received from certain parts of major sports media is truly offensive. On that score, ladies and gentlemen, I give you noted Notre Dame hater, Colin Cowherd, on the steaming mess coming out of Chapel Hill (sharing has been disabled on the four-letter site so you can watch at this link).

It appears that Notre Dame and Adidas have improved the home blue jerseys for 2012. All of this talk about the Shamrock Series and Notre Dame's game against Navy in Dublin, Ireland and those possible uniform combinations has deflected the fact that the home blues had an issue.

The interlocking "ND" looked, well, smudged. Adidas, with the help of Ryan Grooms I'm sure, seemed to have fixed this problem heading into the 2012 season.
